The city of Castellón de la Plana recorded its hottest night since 1911 on Thursday, with a minimum temperature of 29.5 degrees, exceeding historic figures.

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has reported that the minimum temperature recorded in Castellón de la Plana last Thursday was 29.5 degrees, a figure that surpasses the one recorded on July 21st (27.4 degrees) and becomes the highest since 1911.
This exceptionally high heat was mainly caused by the arrival of the westerly wind, a flow of warm and dry air that resulted in thermometers not dropping below 25 degrees during Thursday and reaching up to 40 degrees in much of the province of Castellón.
At the provincial level, Almenara was the municipality that registered the highest temperature with 43 degrees. Other towns such as Soneja, la Vall d'Uixó, Artana, Cirat, Chóvar, Eslida, and Jérica reached maximums of 41 degrees.
During the night, 40 municipalities recorded minimums above 30 degrees. La Vilavella reached 38 degrees in the early morning, Nules achieved its annual maximum with 37.3 degrees, Betxí reached 37 degrees, and la Vall and Onda reached 36 degrees.
The entire Valencian Community has been affected by this heatwave. For example, the city of València has also recorded its hottest night since records began, with a minimum of 30.9 degrees.
