The Safe Space, which combines the functions of the Violet Point for violence against women and the Green Point for addiction prevention, has seen notable success in participation and interaction during the patron saint celebrations. Deployed in the festival grounds on September 4, 5, 11, and 12, the initiative is supported by a multidisciplinary team of three professionals specializing in psychology, social work, and social education.
Their work ranges from disseminating preventive material on risk behaviors and promoting healthy leisure habits to providing immediate, confidential, and coordinated support for any potential situation of harassment, violence against women, or chemical submission.
Among the most highlighted initiatives are participatory dynamics such as ‘El Muro del Buen Trato’ (The Wall of Good Treatment), ‘El Árbol de las Buenas Decisiones’ (The Tree of Good Decisions), and the non-alcoholic cocktail bar. These proposals have promoted civic coexistence and awareness of responsible consumption, registering high attendance, especially the non-alcoholic cocktail bar, which has demonstrated quality entertainment alternatives without the need for alcohol consumption.
In its first edition in 2025, the council already recorded over 600 people assisted thanks to the combined efforts of the fixed point in the Plaça de la Mercè and itinerant visits to local groups. This year, according to the concessionaire company, participation is even higher.
The Councilor for Social Services and Equality, Isabel Monfort, emphasized that the Safe Space is an effective tool not only for responding quickly to incidents but fundamentally for educating and ensuring that all residents and visitors can enjoy the Misericordia Festivities in a safe, egalitarian, and mutually respectful environment.
