The political group based its stance on data from the State Register of Emissions and Polluting Sources (PRTR), which falls under the Ministry for the Ecological Transition. According to this information, the industrial site hosts two of the twenty facilities with the highest volume of polluting emissions in the country.
The coalition's position is directly linked to the project for an ammonia treatment plant promoted by the company Armonía Green. Representatives of the group argue that, given the high environmental burden already supported by the area, the precautionary principle must be applied to prevent an increase in the concentration of activities involving chemical risks.
Compromís recalled that the project has received allegations during its public information period. Several technical reports have warned about the dangers associated with handling ammonia in an area that already has a dense presence of energy and chemical industries.
