The Mayor of Castelló, Begoña Carrasco, met today with the Autonomous Secretary of Institutional Policy, Carlos Gil, to coordinate the events for the city's 775th Anniversary, with the support of the Generalitat Valenciana.

The Generalitat Valenciana has confirmed its institutional support for the celebration of the 775th Anniversary of the City of Castelló. The Mayor, Begoña Carrasco, met today with the Autonomous Secretary of Institutional Policy and Territorial Cohesion, Carlos Gil, and the Delegate of the Consell in Castelló, Susana Fabregat, to finalize the details of the commemorations.
Carrasco thanked the Generalitat for its support, which translates into central events such as the exhibition "El Privilegi d'Existir. 1251 - 2026. The document that changed the history of Castelló". This exhibition, which will open on Tuesday, September 8th, at the Menador building, will feature the original manuscript of the Privilege of Transfer granted by King Jaume I on September 8, 1251, a document that allowed the relocation from Castell Vell to the plain, thus founding the city of Castelló.

"We are talking about, possibly, the most important historical document for our city. And being able to contemplate it, thanks to the efforts of the Generalitat Valenciana with the National Historical Archive, represents a historic opportunity, as it has not been viewable in our city for over two decades."

The Mayor also highlighted the Generalitat Valenciana's support in the design and creation of the spectacular videomapping by Valencian artist Chema Siscar, which was projected in the Plaza Mayor last weekend. This show narrates the transfer from Castell Vell to La Plana, featuring key moments related to the Privilege of Transfer and the historical figures who made it possible, including the prominent role of King Jaume I.
Carrasco emphasized that the City Council has prepared a series of cultural and festive events to celebrate the 775th Anniversary, and that thanks to the "unconditional" support of the Generalitat Valenciana, and the government of President Juanfran Pérez Llorca, there will be memorable events for the citizens of Castelló.
For his part, Autonomous Secretary Carlos Gil invited attendees to "take advantage of the 775th anniversary celebration to truly know Castelló's roots and, from them, project the city we want in the future." He stressed that collaboration between the Generalitat and the City Council is key to addressing residents' demands and improving the city.
