The Local Government Board of the Castellón City Council has approved modifications to fiscal ordinances today, reducing the Property Tax (IBI) by 2%, thus completing the 10% reduction pledged for the current term, and extending the exemption for public space occupation fees for the hospitality sector until the end of 2027.

Additionally, urban planning licenses have been granted for the construction of 181 homes on Vila-real Avenue, furthering the housing agenda. The government spokesperson, Vicent Sales, highlighted that these measures fulfill commitments to citizens to alleviate tax burdens, support economic activity, and facilitate new housing construction.
The new 2% IBI reduction, which will be presented to the Plenary for approval, completes the 10% decrease promised for the legislative period. Sales emphasized that the tax reduction policy aims to provide citizens with more resources and offer support to families and businesses.
The Government Board also approved extending the suspension of fees for public space occupation by hospitality terraces until December 31, 2027. This measure, also to be submitted to the Plenary, aims to continue supporting the sector and the city's economic dynamism.
In urban planning matters, licenses were granted for two buildings at numbers 90 and 17 Vila-real Avenue. The first will feature 91 homes, 64 storage units, and 108 parking spaces, while the second will have 90 homes, 90 storage units, and 92 parking spaces. These 181 homes add to efforts to expand the city's residential supply.
Furthermore, the bases and call for grants to promote equal opportunities between women and men were approved, with a maximum budget of 52,000 euros. These grants are intended for non-profit associations and entities for projects conducted between September 1, 2026, and August 31, 2027.
Finally, the celebration of the Grau Market on Friday, October 9th, and the Monday Market on October 12th was authorized. The interim appointment of three library assistants was also approved to enhance services following the opening of the new Municipal Library on Carrer Major.
