The Mayor of Castelló, Begoña Carrasco, accompanied by the Councilor for Social Welfare, Clara Adsuara, recently met with the new board of directors of the Salomé Moliner Alzheimer Foundation, chaired by Luis Chinchilla. Other members of the entity, such as its manager, Silvia Ramos, also participated in the meeting.
Carrasco highlighted "the effort and commitment of all the people who make up this Foundation and its association," as well as the "volunteers who are key players in helping people suffering from Alzheimer's or other types of dementia, and also their families." The mayor conveyed the government team's support for the entity's work in "an area as important as mental health," emphasizing that "without mental health, there can be no health."
Likewise, Carrasco thanked "the work of the previous president, Emili Marmanéu, who has led the association and its Foundation for more than three decades."
Regarding support policies, the mayor emphasized the city government's commitment to working "hand in hand with the Salomé Moliner Foundation to achieve the implementation of Respite Units in each of the city's districts." As she explained, "bringing assistance to these people in their neighborhoods, in their closest environment, substantially improves their quality of life," and she insisted on the need to "care for the sick, but also for those who care for them," considering these units "vital for everyone."
On the occasion of World Alzheimer's Day, today, September 21st, Carrasco invited citizens to join the commemorative events and visit the information table set up at the Pescadería Square. This central point will offer advice, support brochures, and raise awareness of the resources available to the people of Castelló.
The mayor highlighted the "valuable work" and the "projects carried out by the Foundation" for the sensitization and information of the citizenry, "especially this September 21st, Alzheimer's Day."
