The activity, inspired by the work of artist Teresa Lanceta, highlighted traditional textile techniques and knowledge passed down through generations, particularly by women. Participating families discovered the creative possibilities of weaving, experimenting with concepts like warp and weft using ropes, yarns, needles, and threads.
The session began with a visual introduction to Lanceta's work and other artistic references, followed by a practical part where attendees worked directly with the materials. The workshop encouraged reflection on the emotional value of objects and how textile crafts serve as a form of artistic expression and cultural transmission.
The initiative was led by the association Arte para Todo. La Naturaleza del Reciclaje, comprising Begoña García Boix and Trinidad Pérez Beltrán, both experienced in bringing artistic creation closer to diverse audiences.
The Councilor for Culture, Manuel Casado, emphasized the importance of promoting participatory activities that allow art discovery through experience and highlighted the municipal library's role as a place for meeting and cultural learning.
