Villajoyosa has opened the tender process for a new contract to manage parks, gardens, and fountains, which will have a duration of 11 years and an annual value of 1.8 million euros. This new agreement aims to cover the municipality's current needs regarding green spaces and recreational areas.
As explained by the Councilor for Urban Scene, Ana Alcázar, the contract includes the comprehensive maintenance, conservation, and cleaning of landscaped areas, street trees, ornamental fountains, and children's play areas. The annual base tender budget amounts to 1,870,584.19 euros, including VAT.
The councilor highlighted that the new service will allow for reinforcing the daily cleaning of these areas, as well as improving the safety of recreational facilities and the daily care of vegetation in urban parks and green spaces in all neighborhoods.
The tender specifications include significant improvements, such as a specialized team of 28 permanent operators and technicians. A continuous inspection and repair plan for children's playground equipment, biosafety elements, and calisthenics equipment will be established to ensure the safety of younger individuals. Annual specific funds are also included for planting new trees, repairing playground equipment, and maintaining ornamental fountains.
Furthermore, special attention will be paid to natural areas and neighborhoods, with the creation of a specific team equipped with machinery for sites such as the Pantano area, Río Torres, or Colada de la Costa. The contract also emphasizes sustainability, prioritizing low-emission vehicles, environmentally friendly products, and water saving for irrigation.
Alcázar stressed that the goal is to achieve a greener, more sustainable, and better-cared-for Villajoyosa. She recalled that in February 2024, the cleaning and maintenance service was already expanded, incorporating 5 additional workers to the staff.
