La Vila Joiosa revives the ‘Cinema al Carrer’ series in its old town this Monday, offering six free screenings of films nominated or awarded at the 2026 Goya Awards.

The series, now in its 26th edition, will run until Saturday, August 22nd. Screenings will take place every evening at 9:00 PM on Costereta street, with free admission until capacity is reached.
The program begins on Monday with the screening of La Cena. Tuesday will feature Cautivo, followed by Tigres on Wednesday. The selection continues on Thursday with Mi amiga Eva, Friday with Los domingos, and concludes on Saturday with Sirat.
This cultural initiative is organized by the Old Town Association, with the support of the Culture Department of the La Vila Joiosa City Council. It has become an established activity linking the historic neighborhood with culture.
The series originated in 1999 with the screening of Los jueves, milagro by Luis García Berlanga in the Plaza de la Iglesia. The following year, in the summer of 2000, it continued with the cycle 5 decades of Spanish cinema on Carrer del Pal. Since then, it has established itself as a cultural landmark of the old town, regaining prominence in recent summers with its focus on the Goya Awards.
