The cycling peloton will pass through La Nucía as part of the 9th stage of the 2026 Tour of Spain. The route, coming from Benidorm, will travel entirely along the CV-70 and CV-715 roads, heading towards Polop. According to the official route map, the support caravan will begin passing at 11:45 AM, with the cyclists expected between 12:40 PM and 12:55 PM.
Prior to the cyclists' arrival, one hour beforehand, fans can enjoy the cycling atmosphere with the Promotional Caravan. This will be set up in the parking area opposite the Municipal Cemetery, where sponsors will offer activities and gifts to attendees.
Cycling enthusiasts will have the opportunity to gather along the CV-70, CV-715, and the avenues Marina Baixa, Carretera, and the Gabriel Miró promenade to cheer on the peloton. The cycling spectacle will be visible live between 12:40 PM and 12:55 PM.
Road closures are expected from approximately 12:40 PM to 1:00 PM. Affected roads include the CV-70 (Benidorm-La Nucía), the CV-715 crossing, Marina Baixa Avenue, Carretera Avenue, and Gabriel Miró promenade (La Nucía-Polop), as well as adjacent streets. The La Nucía Local Police, in coordination with the Civil Guard Traffic division, will manage the roundabouts along the route. Vehicle circulation, including bicycles, will be prohibited from the passage of the first Civil Guard motorcyclist with a red flag until the motorcyclist with a green flag, indicating the end of the race. It is recommended to plan travel in advance.
This 9th stage, covering 187 kilometers from Villajoyosa to Sella, is considered demanding. It includes significant climbs such as the Alto de El Miserat (first category) and the Puerto de Tudons (second category), with the return to the Sierra de Aitana, one of the historic peaks of La Vuelta.
Among the notable participants in this 81st edition of the Tour of Spain is five-time Tour de France champion Tadej Pogacar (UAE), aiming for the red jersey. Cyclists such as Richard Carapaz (EF Education), Felix Gall (Decathlon), Mattias Skjelmose (Lidl Trek), Primoz Roglic (Red Bull Bora), as well as Spaniards Enric Mas (Movistar) and Carlos Rodríguez (Ineos), will also be competing.
