Benidorm City Council will invest around €150,000 this summer in repairs and improvement works at ten public educational centers in the city, aiming to have them ready for the start of the 2026/27 school year. Key improvements focus on accessibility, electricity, plumbing, gas installations, carpentry, painting, school canteens, and playgrounds.
Within this budget, approximately €48,000 has been allocated to the creation of several shaded areas across three projects. These tasks, which include material procurement, are being carried out by municipal technical services and specialized companies, and are being conducted during the summer period to avoid disrupting academic activities.
The Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, and the Councillor for Education, Maite Moreno, visited the Puig Campana public school to inspect the progress of some interventions. Pérez highlighted the investment aimed at improving facilities and making the centers "more modern, safer, and more habitable spaces".
At the Puig Campana school, a shaded area will be created, the children's playground sandpit will be adapted, tree surrounds will be renovated, air conditioning units will be installed, and the canteen doors will be improved. Other schools such as Vasco Núñez de Balboa, CEIP La Cala, Miguel Hernández, CEIP Aitana, CEIP Bautista Lledó, Els Tolls, Gabriel Miró, and CEIP Serra Gelada will also receive upgrades to carpentry, electricity, plumbing, gas, railings, painting, and facades.
