The Montgó natural park is closed to the public due to extreme forest fire risk, with paths and trails sealed off. However, the Hacienda nightclub, which has held a license since 1966, opened its doors last night and into the early morning.
The Local Police and Civil Guard have deployed a unit to monitor the nightclub's clients. Officers prevented young people from leaving the premises and invading closed paths or walking down the dangerous Les Planes road, which connects Xàbia and Dénia. Taxis were used, and the youths were redirected to safer routes.
A young man was attended by paramedics from a Basic Vital Support (SVB) ambulance after being found unwell early in the morning.
Residents have expressed concern over the contradiction of the natural park being closed due to fire risk while the nightclub operates without limitations, despite the town council demanding a self-protection plan.
The presence of a nightclub in a natural park is considered an anomaly, especially in situations of extreme heat and high fire risk, recalling the severe fires the Montgó has suffered in the past.
