The City Council of Paiporta has been awarded in the eighth edition of the Generalitat Valenciana's EAR Awards in the public entity category, recognizing its environmental education programs.

The City Council of Paiporta has received an award in the eighth edition of the EAR Awards (Environmental Education on the Road) from the Generalitat Valenciana, within the public entity category. This recognition highlights the environmental education programs and actions continuously carried out in the municipality, driven by the Department of Environment.
The councilor emphasized the importance of public institutions fostering awareness about sustainability and creating spaces for citizen involvement in environmental improvement. "Administrations have the responsibility to bring these values closer to citizens and facilitate everyone's participation in building a more sustainable municipality," she stated, highlighting a task that involves "many sectors of the population, from educational centers to families and municipal entities."
For his part, the mayor of Paiporta, Vicent Ciscar, emphasized that the award recognizes "the City Council's commitment to environmental policies and their continuous incorporation into municipal action." Ciscar noted that these policies "are part of the way of understanding and managing the municipality," consolidating a line of work over the years.
This transversal approach is also reflected in the planning of public spaces, with measures to adapt the municipality to climate change and promote more sustainable resource use. The Climate Reconstruction and Adaptation Plan for Parks and Gardens includes actions such as increasing tree cover and shaded areas, improving energy efficiency, reducing single-use plastics, and more sustainable water management. As an example, he cited the renovation of Vicente Blasco Ibáñez square, which is becoming a climate refuge with new trees, LED lighting, and a sustainable drainage system.
The Councilor for the Environment, Òscar Pellicer, highlighted the work of municipal environmental educators and the technical effort behind the initiatives. "Behind this recognition is a constant effort in planning and developing activities, campaigns, and actions adapted to different population sectors," he explained, emphasizing the "professionalism and involvement of the professionals within the organization."
The EAR Awards, in their eighth edition, aim to publicly recognize Valencian entities that stand out for their contribution to territorial sustainability through environmental education. The awards are structured into seven categories, including educational centers, associations, companies, local entities, environmental education facilities, actions addressing the climate emergency, and natural parks. In addition to the City Council of Paiporta, recipients included IES Jaume I of Ontinyent, Associació Cresol of Valencia, Micel·li Ambient Coop. V. of Vilafranca, the Educational Environmental Center El Captivador of La Nucia, Consorci Castelló Nord C1 of Castelló, and the Natural Park of Marjal de Pego-Oliva.
