The program will kick off on Thursday, October 1st, at 7:00 PM with the inauguration of the exhibition «Memòries d’un poble» (Memories of a Town). This exhibition, organized by the Photography Volunteer Group of the Massanassa Public Library, will be on display at the Gabriel Cualladó Exhibition Hall in the Salvador Seguí Auditorium.
The weekend of October 3rd and 4th will be marked by culture and family. On Saturday the 3rd, the Plaza de las Escuelas Viejas will host, starting at 5:00 PM, the 1st October 9th Festival, organized by Grup de Danses El Divendres. The following day, Sunday the 4th, the schedule will be dedicated to family audiences with an exhibition of Moorish and Christian costumes, a parade, and a commemorative concert.
Sunday's activities will include a storytelling session titled «La reina dels petons» (The Kiss Queen), organized by Intercomparsa and Fundación Next2u, at 11:00 AM. Additionally, throughout the morning and afternoon, the exhibition of Moorish and Christian costumes can be viewed in the Town Hall lobby. The Music Band of the Centre Instructiu i Musical de Massanassa will offer a parade at 6:30 PM, culminating in a festive music concert at 7:00 PM in the Plaza de las Escuelas Viejas.
Culture will have a prominent place on Wednesday, October 7th. At 7:00 PM, at the Societat Cultural La Terreta, the literary work of Mercé Estrela Tena will be presented, with the participation of Laura Fortea and Maria Rosaleny.
Thursday, October 8th, will focus on the recovery of Valencian traditions with the family workshop «Retroben les nostres tradicions: La Mocadorà» (Rediscover Our Traditions: The Mocadorà), starting at 5:30 PM. This activity will involve creating the traditional marzipan sweets for the San Dionís festival. Participation will be in pairs of an adult and a child (over 5 years old), with limited spots and prior registration at the Municipal Library. The evening will conclude with Valencian guitar, traditional singing, and albaes performed by AC La Cantarella at 10:30 PM.
The main day will be Friday, October 9th. Events will commence at 8:00 AM with the traditional 'despertada' (awakening) with firecrackers by the Colla Despertades de Massanassa.
The Municipal Sports Center will host the traditional Paella Festival. Starting at 8:30 AM, doors will open, and tables, chairs, and firewood will be distributed. Between 11:30 AM and 12:00 PM, ingredients for the paellas will be handed out. The day's program will also include traditional games and the storytelling session «Ulises», by Fundación Next2u. In the afternoon, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the festivities will continue with a DJ set by Dani Casany on the fronton court.
With this program, Massanassa reaffirms its commitment to celebrating October 9th, highlighting Valencian culture, music, and traditions through a schedule that combines family activities, cultural proposals, and festive events for shared enjoyment.
