Ceramic art takes center stage in Manises with the upcoming “Open Ceramics 2026” event. This initiative aims to highlight the municipality's ceramic legacy, introduce the public to the work of local artisans, and encourage direct purchases of their creations. The event is scheduled for September 26, 2026.
According to Xavier Morant, Councilor for Culture and Promotion of Ceramics, the event celebrates Manises' unique ceramic heritage, a result of centuries of tradition and innovation. "Initiatives like Open Ceramics showcase the talent of our artisans and help ensure that ceramics remain a vital part of our city's identity and present," he stated.
The day-long event will feature visiting hours from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the morning and from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the afternoon. Artisan workshops will open their doors to demonstrate creative processes and traditional techniques. Additionally, tents will be set up on Torrent street, creating an open route through the local ceramic scene.
This occasion offers a unique opportunity to purchase ceramics directly from the creators, gaining firsthand insight into the process behind each piece. Visitors can find items ranging from jewelry to decorative elements and other ceramic creations.
Attendees can complete a ceramic passport to access exclusive benefits on purchases made during the event. The goal is for the day to serve as an invitation to discover, appreciate, and acquire Manises ceramics, thereby supporting the artisan sector and ensuring its continuity.
Participating entities include AVEC-Gremi, offering workshops for a symbolic fee. Notable workshops include porcelain flower making by Mercedes Almazán (Porcellanes Mercedes), a 'socarrat' workshop led by José Luis Camarena (Socarrats Artesania), and modeling workshops with Antonio Cordero and Isabel Aguiló. There will also be ceramic wicker workshops for adults and children, led by Vicente Martínez and Rosa García respectively, and a tile decoration workshop with Francisco Álvarez.
Other confirmed participants include ANPEC, Ceràmiques Palanca, Maribel Martínez, Aliarte, Ceràmiques Pepe Royo, Drac Ceràmic, Ana Palés, Casa Mayólica, and la Botiga de Gema.
To facilitate mobility between the various participating locations, two tourist trains will be available, connecting strategic points in the municipality. Stops include C/ València, 26 (Local Police-Economic Promotion), Metro Manises, and Metro Roses.
Through this event, "Open Ceramics 2026" solidifies its position as a key opportunity to discover Manises' rich ceramic heritage firsthand, meet its professionals, and celebrate an artisanal tradition integral to the city's cultural identity.
