The agents began the investigation following a routine inspection at a metal recycling center in L'Horta Sud. There, they located a significant amount of copper, which the center's managers stated had been brought by workers from an electrical maintenance company. These operators, wearing their company uniform, allegedly brought the material to sell, falsely claiming they had authorization.
According to the recovery center's explanations, the workers issued invoices in their own names for the sales and delivered the material in small quantities to avoid suspicion. The Civil Guard attributes up to 42 possible thefts to the investigated individuals.
When the Civil Guard informed the electrical maintenance company about the situation, management stated they were unaware of their employees' actions. They emphasized that no authorization existed for the sale of the material, as the company has its own waste management procedures.
Currently, a court in Torrent is handling the investigation of the eleven workers for a total of 42 counts of theft.
