The Major Festivities of Catarroja concluded this past weekend with the Children's and Adult Playback contests, events that were marked by the participation of Fallas commissions and a festive atmosphere at the Mundial 82 Fairgrounds. These performances bring to a close several weeks of celebrations that have combined music, gastronomy, Fallas culture, and local traditions.
Organized by the Union of Fallas Associations of Catarroja in collaboration with the Department of Festivities, the playback shows have become a key event in the festive program. The two days had to be rescheduled to this weekend after a red alert due to weather forced a modification of the original schedule. The City Council kept the Fairgrounds infrastructure available to allow the events to take place.
The mayor of Catarroja, Lorena Silvent, highlighted the importance of these events: 'The playback shows are also a demonstration of all the work behind the festivities. There are many hours of rehearsal, many people involved, and a great desire to share it with the rest of the town,' she stated. She particularly thanked the celebration of the events, despite the postponement for safety reasons, to mark the end of the Major Festivities.
Silvent also expressed gratitude for 'the work of all the people who have made these festivities possible: associations, festive entities, Fallas commissions, municipal workers, security and emergency services, and all those who, often unseen, work to ensure each event can proceed.' The festivities have underscored the fundamental role of local associations and entities in the program.
The playback contests served as the final major event of the 2026 Major Festivities, thus concluding the program and returning the spotlight to the Fallas commissions and an event that traditionally brings together participants of all ages.
