The Road Signage Unit of the Alaquàs Local Police continues with the improvement and renewal of horizontal signage in the municipality. These actions, carried out at various points in recent weeks, aim to increase the safety of pedestrians, drivers, and users of personal mobility vehicles.
A notable intervention is the installation of a smart pedestrian crossing on País Valencià avenue. This technological system incorporates a detection mechanism that illuminates the pedestrian crossing vertically and horizontally when it simultaneously detects a pedestrian ready to cross and an approaching vehicle. The luminous signage activates specifically in situations of risk, significantly increasing the visibility of the intersection. The system only activates when both circumstances coincide, meaning when there is a potential risk interaction between pedestrian and vehicle.
This technology makes pedestrians more visible when it is particularly necessary, reinforcing drivers' attention and complementing conventional signage. This action was made possible thanks to a subsidy from the Horta Sud Mancomunitat.
In addition, the Road Signage Unit has carried out other maintenance interventions: repainting pedestrian crossings on Carrer Major, reinforcing stop signage at the confluence of Tapissers and Bovalar streets in the Mollons Industrial Estate, creating two new motorcycle parking spaces on Tomás Martínez Medina street, repainting the charging area for electric vehicles on Camí Vell de Torrent avenue, and a new pedestrian crossing on Vicent Aleixandre street with Germans Lluna.
All these actions are part of the ordinary maintenance and improvement work of road signage, which is fundamental to ensuring that road indications and markings maintain adequate conditions of visibility and effectiveness.
