Twenty years after their first meeting, the municipalities of Vilafranca (Ports), Vilafranca de Bonany, Vilafranca de Conflent, and Vilafranca del Penedès have re-established contact to promote new cooperation initiatives.

The initiative has begun with the creation of a shared web space, integrated into the Tourism sections of the respective town halls. This new space aims to jointly showcase the four municipalities, highlighting their historical, cultural, and linguistic elements, as well as the landscapes and heritage that connect them beyond current administrative borders.
This resumption of relations, which began in 2006, marks the twentieth anniversary of their first meeting. The town halls have deemed it appropriate to revive this connection and update it based on current collaboration possibilities.
The municipalities intend to maintain stable communication, identify areas of shared interest, and explore potential joint actions in fields such as tourism promotion, culture, heritage, or the exchange of municipal experiences.
This connection between the four Catalan-speaking Vilafrancas is also reinforced by a European precedent: the Meetings of the European Vilafrancas, which have brought together various European municipalities with this toponym over the years. This broader framework strengthens the idea of Vilafrancas as a space for connection between municipalities from different European territories.
