The Paterna City Council conducted a drill today of its siren system to test the functionality and reach of acoustic alerts and voice messages in case of an emergency.

The objective of the test was to verify the city's response to risk situations, checking the clarity and intensity of the sound signals and instruction messages.
The Mayor of Paterna, Juan Antonio Sagredo, accompanied by the Deputy Mayor for Emergencies, Núria Campos, activated the pilot test at 11:30 AM from the Local Police Headquarters. The siren installed at the municipal building emitted a three-minute confinement alert signal, followed by a voice message with the planned instructions, repeated three times. Subsequently, a 50-second end-of-alert signal and the corresponding message were broadcast.
To assess coverage, the Local Police established nine strategic testing points throughout the city, including areas such as Calle Mayor, Plaza Ingeniero Castell, Alborxí, the Fuente del Jarro industrial estate, and Avenida Primero de Mayo, among others. Analyzing this information will allow for potential adjustments and progress in the complete implementation of the system.

The Mayor emphasized that the test aims to improve warning resources and familiarize citizens with the signals and response protocols. The City Council had previously informed all security forces and neighborhood associations about the drill to prevent unnecessary alarms, reminding everyone that it was exclusively a test.
This drill follows the completion of a public training program on emergencies, with sessions held in educational centers, senior centers, and open courses for the public.
