The Paterna City Council has launched a new call for the Entrepreneur Check program to further promote self-employment and the creation of new businesses in the city, following a 2.72% year-on-year increase in the number of self-employed individuals.

With 5,471 self-employed individuals as of September 30, 2026, the municipality continues to establish itself as a hub for entrepreneurship within the Valencian Community. This non-reimbursable aid initiative, started in 2016, has facilitated the opening of over 800 new businesses since its inception, fostering the growth and diversification of the local business fabric.
“

"The Entrepreneur Check has become an established annual incentive to support those who decide to start a business activity in our city, facilitating their first steps and fostering new employment opportunities."

Juan Antonio Sagredo · Mayor of Paterna
The trend in self-employment in Paterna contrasts with the 3.04% decrease recorded nationally over the past twelve months, according to EPA data. Mayor Juan Antonio Sagredo highlighted that "Paterna is a city that generates opportunities. The growth in self-employment and the arrival of new investments and companies to our six business areas reinforce our commitment to continue promoting measures that favor entrepreneurship and job creation".
The Entrepreneur Check 2026 call, promoted through the Service of Business, Industry, and University, has an initial allocation of 80,000 euros, extendable up to 160,000 euros. Notably, the grant amounts have been increased for beneficiaries who are currently unemployed.
New activities established in Paterna between December 1, 2025, and November 30, 2026, are eligible to apply for these subsidies, provided they maintain the supported activity and meet the established requirements. The grant amounts will be determined based on the beneficiaries' circumstances, considering factors such as gender, age, disability, status as a victim of gender-based violence, or social exclusion.
The application period begins today, October 15, and will remain open until November 30. Applications will be processed electronically through the municipal electronic headquarters, with a payment timeframe of 30 to 45 days. In the previous call, the City Council awarded 60 Entrepreneur Checks, and over its first ten years, the program accumulated a municipal investment of 710,300 euros.
“

"Paterna was a pioneer in the Valencian Community in providing financial aid to new activities established within its municipal boundaries. We will continue to support entrepreneurs whose projects contribute to the economic development of our city."
