Muñoz will serve in this role for the next two years alongside Eleni Marinou from the National Observatory of Athens (Greece). The appointment was officially announced during ACTRIS Week 2026, held in Katowice (Poland) from October 21st to 23rd.
ACTRIS (Aerosol, Clouds and Trace Gases Research Infrastructure) is a leading European research infrastructure dedicated to the study of atmospheric aerosols, clouds, and trace gases, which are fundamental to understanding air pollution and climate change. It integrates over 100 scientific facilities across Europe and a community of more than 1,000 researchers.
The National Facilities Forum (NF Forum) aims to facilitate knowledge exchange, identify common scientific and technical needs, and strengthen communication among the facilities. Amalia Muñoz will participate in coordinating the Forum's activities, promoting collaboration, and identifying new scientific priorities.
In addition to her directorship at CEAM, Amalia Muñoz is the national contact person for ACTRIS-Spain and principal investigator of EUPHORE, a unique scientific facility located in Paterna. Her election as co-chair recognizes CEAM's scientific trajectory within major European research infrastructures.
