The European project WISE EU (Women’s Inclusion in Sport for Europe) has begun its journey with a significant institutional recognition. The Bonrepòs i Mirambell City Council attended on October 22nd the PRO-VOTE event, organized by the Provincial Council of Valencia at the MUVIM, where it received an award in the category of Youth Involvement and Underrepresented Communities.
This initiative, carried out with the support of the Valencian consultancy Sequoia Pro, is financed by the European Union through the Cities Twinning call of the CERV program (Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values), and receives funding from the Provincial Council of Valencia itself for its drafting and preparation.
WISE EU, which will formally commence its activities next January with a planned duration of 12 months, centers on fostering gender equality and the participation of women and girls in traditional and minority sports, with a special emphasis on Valencian pilota.
The project connects the municipality of Bonrepòs i Mirambell, acting as the coordinating entity, with the Polish town of Miłakowo. This transnational alliance will enable the exchange of best practices between communities with complementary sporting realities, promote female leadership in sports organization and management, and create a permanent European network for sports and cultural cooperation. Additionally, two international mobility programs will take place in both the Valencian municipality and in Poland, where a delegation of young athletes from Bonrepòs i Mirambell will travel.
“"It is a pride for our municipality to receive this award for a project that so well represents the values we want to promote from the City Council. With WISE EU, we want to continue paving the way for women and girls to have increasing prominence in sports."
The Bonrepòs i Mirambell City Council wishes to express its profound gratitude to the Provincial Council of Valencia for the recognition granted at the PRO-VOTE event, which reinforces the council's commitment to promoting European values of inclusion, diversity, and citizen participation from the local level. Further updates and the detailed activity calendar for the project will be announced soon.
