The facility resumes activity after improvements to the track's circuit and various areas for jumps and throws. This action addresses the wear and tear from daily use by the city's clubs and athletes. The Councilor for Sports, Rocío Gil, highlighted that runners can now enjoy a completely renovated track, reinforcing Valencia's title as a running city. The councilor stated that the resumption of activity will be progressive, allowing school groups and clubs to be seen training at Tramo III in the coming days.
Maratón València has invested over 700,000 euros in the track's recovery and the purchase of a video finish system. According to Paco Borao, president of SD Correcaminos, this investment benefits schools, fans, recreational runners, and federated athletes in Valencia, thanks to the support of the València City Council and the Fundació Trinidad Alfonso.
The work included the renovation of the track's circuit, start and braking zones, long jump and triple jump lanes, pole vault lane, and javelin throw lanes. The new 13.5-millimeter thick pavement combines a lower impact-absorbing layer with a top rubber surface designed for grip and resistance, improving athletes' support and movement conditions.
The reopening will be gradual. This Thursday, October 15th, and Friday, October 16th, the track will open from 5:00 PM, with staggered hours for schools, federated athletes, and other users. On Saturday the 17th, it will be closed for a training day, and on Sunday the 18th, it will be open from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. From Monday, October 19th, the facility will return to its regular opening hours.
