The Generalitat, through the Valencia-West Interdepartmental Health Group, has held the III Humanization Conference, bringing together over 80 healthcare professionals to enhance the patient experience.
The III Humanization Conference of the Valencia-West Interdepartmental Health Group (ASI Valencia-Oeste) has gathered more than 80 professionals from the Valencia-General Hospital, Manises, and Requena health departments, all involved in improving the patient experience. The event, held this year at Manises Hospital, served to showcase initiatives and projects focused on people, regardless of their life stage.
Under the slogan ‘Caring from the first smile to the last memory’, proposals have been presented ranging from pediatric care to end-of-life support, including areas such as emergencies, rural environments, and digital transformation.
“
"The manager of the Manises health department, Beatriz Gómez García, highlighted the influence of humanization on the healthcare experience, stating, “healthcare excellence is measured more by how we make the people we care for feel than by the technology we use or the procedures we perform”."
“
"The medical director of the Valencia General Hospital, José Pérez Silvestre, conveyed “the importance of humanization transcending the entire healthcare organization through leadership profiles”."
“
"The Nursing Deputy Manager of Requena Hospital, Ivette Ramos Melgarejo, values “caring for the small details and understanding that behind every care process there is a person”."
The meeting was organized by the Humanization Commission of the Manises health department, chaired by Laura González Hernández, Deputy Nursing Manager of hospitalization, with the collaboration of the Humanization Commission of the Valencia General Hospital, chaired by Eva Mateo.
Esther Gómez Cordero, a nurse and health communicator known as 'Mi enfermera favorita', emphasized the need to balance technological advancements with the sensitivity and closeness required in care.
The conference underscored that humanization transversally involves the entire healthcare organization and that emotional support is crucial both before surgery and in daily actions. Special attention was given to care at the beginning and end of life, as well as support for caregivers. Humanization initiatives in rural areas and emergency services were also presented.
The session included the experiential workshop 'Put yourself in my shoes', where healthcare professionals took on the roles of patients and their families.
