The emerging theater showcase Escènia 2026, organized by the Foios City Council, has concluded its XXIV edition with an awards ceremony, honoring 'Zorra Dorada' and 'Original Greek'.

The play ‘Zorra Dorada’, a multidisciplinary stage creation by Elisa Forcano and Barbecho Productions, has been awarded by the Escènia 2026 jury with 4,000 euros. This piece, which addresses abuse from an expanding body, had previously received the Max Award 2026 for best emerging show. Its inspiration comes from the story of Noa Pothoven, a victim of sexual abuse.
The audience, on the other hand, awarded its mention, also endowed with 4,000 euros, to the production ‘Original Greek’, by the company Marina Toniovic (Valencia). The play tells the journey of a couple to Athens, seeking an authentic experience conscious of their carbon footprint. It can be seen again at the Sagunt a Escena festival on August 6th.
The finalist works, ‘El cos’ and ‘El acontecimiento’, received 3,500 euros each. ‘El cos’, a co-production by Fugint de l’Escalímpal and Teatro a Destajo, is a monologue about a woman awaiting family news on a critical night. ‘El acontecimiento’, by La Perra Coja, narrates the search for an illegal abortion by a student in France in 1963.
The ‘Escènia, mostra de teatre emergent’ festival is consolidating itself as a reference point for new national stage creation, supporting innovative projects aimed at young and adult audiences, and demonstrating steady growth within the emerging theater circuit.
