The Valencian Community has been affected by strong winds and torrential rains this Thursday. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) had activated orange and yellow alerts since early morning, warning of the risk of intense rainfall and violent phenomena, including very strong wind gusts that reached 149 kilometers per hour.
The widespread storms, including hail, have left notable meteorological activity. In Alzira, the effects of a wet downburst have caused damage to some roofs, being one of the examples of material damage recorded.
Given this situation, the Generalitat has called for extreme caution. An orange alert has been established for the risk of heavy rains and strong winds in the coast and southern interior of Valencia, as well as in the interior of Alicante. The Emergency Coordination Center (CCE) has issued a yellow alert for the province of Castellón, the northern interior of Valencia, and the northern coast of Alicante, in addition to coastal phenomena along the entire Valencian coast.
The regional secretary for Emergencies and Interior, Fernando Lasheras, has stressed the importance of maintaining prudence, avoiding approaching rivers, ravines, and flood-prone areas due to the risk of overflows. He also recommended limiting road travel and checking road conditions beforehand.
Furthermore, the Generalitat maintains level 3 restrictions for extreme fire risk, especially due to the possibility of dry thunderstorms. This includes the prohibition of lighting fires in forest areas and restricting access to tracks and paths in natural parks. These measures are expected to be lifted on Friday.
