The representative from Mexico won the first prize with their entry titled Arroz de la nostalgia. This recipe, which combines ingredients such as Albufera rice, grouper, and chiltepin, was praised by the jury for its ability to balance creativity with respect for the traditional essence of the Valencian dish.
The podium was completed by the representatives from Japan, who took second place, and Ecuador, who took third. The event, organized by the Visit València Foundation and the City Council in collaboration with Turisme CV and the Provincial Council of Valencia, highlighted paella as a universal language that unites cultures.
“"World Paella Day is much more than a gastronomic celebration: it is the recognition of Valencia as the pantry of the Mediterranean and the cradle of paella."
During the day, attendees were able to enjoy popular portions at the Plaza del Agua. In addition to the competition, the finalists participated in training activities, including visits to the Albufera and the Central Market, to learn about the local products that define Valencian cuisine.
