The Ministry of Health has recorded 20,809 blood donations in the Valencian Community during the summer, with 200 special points established to facilitate public participation.

The Valencian Community has surpassed 20,800 blood donations during the summer period, specifically 20,809 since July 1st. This figure was achieved despite the usual changes in routine during holidays and travel. For the year so far, the Community has accumulated nearly 106,800 donations.
By province, Valencia recorded 11,231 donations over the summer, followed by Alicante with 7,438 and Castellón with 2,140. Additionally, 1,275 plasma donations were made during the same period.
One of the notable aspects of the summer campaign is the incorporation of new donors. A total of 1,430 people made their first donation during these summer months in the Valencian Community. Of these, 799 are from the province of Valencia, 480 from Alicante, and 151 from Castellón.
To facilitate donations, the Transfusion Center has set up 200 special points distributed across the three provinces. Of these, 80 are in Alicante, 70 in Valencia, and 50 in Castellón. The plan included rural areas, coastal towns, and tourist spots to make donation more accessible to citizens, even during holidays.
Hospitals' need for blood components remains constant throughout the year, including the summer months. Blood is essential for treating patients with accidents, surgical interventions, transplants, childbirth complications, as well as hematological diseases and cancer.
To donate blood, individuals must be over 18 years old, weigh more than 50 kilograms, and be in good health. An identification document is required, and donors should not come on an empty stomach. A single donation can help up to three people, which is why the Transfusion Center encourages maintaining this act of solidarity.
