The Villena City Council held a meeting today to address the security plan for the upcoming Moors and Christians Festivals and the Pilgrimage on August 30th.

The meeting, presided over by the mayor, Fulgencio Cerdán, and attended by the councilors for Local Police, Sergio Palao, and Festivals, José Ferri, as well as the Head of the Local Police, Bertino Ponce de León, served to review human and material resources, the distribution of responsibilities, contributions to special devices, and communication and coordination systems.
The mayor highlighted the collaborative spirit of all Security Forces and Corps, the Local Police, and the municipal staff. "It is fair to recognize that, while we enjoy such special days, hundreds of men and women continue to work to guarantee our safety and sustain essential services," Cerdán emphasized.
For his part, the Local Police councilor appealed to the individual responsibility of the festival-goers, stating that "security stems from one's own behavior." He stressed the importance of being prudent and, collectively, being part of a responsibility that relies on the fundamental collaboration of the Local Police and the Civil Guard.
