The third heatwave keeps the province of Valencia and part of Alicante on alert. Last night, temperatures soared, especially in the southeast of the province of Valencia, with unusual values late at night. According to Avamet data, Villena registered 42 degrees, leading the list of nine municipalities that surpassed the 40-degree mark before midnight.
Other towns such as Beneixama (41.8 ºC), Xixona (41.4 ºC), Orihuela (40.7 ºC), and Alcoi (40.6 ºC) also recorded temperatures above 40 degrees. La Canyada, Ayora, Casas Bajas, and Banyeres de Mariola slightly exceeded 40 degrees.
For this Thursday, it is expected to be the most critical day of the heatwave, with westerly winds intensifying the temperatures. Maximums of up to 45 degrees are expected in inland areas of the provinces of Alicante and Valencia, activating a orange alert.
