The province of Castellón, particularly its inland areas, is once again under threat of intense storms. After a weekend marked by torrential rains in regions like Alto Palancia, Alto Maestrazgo, and Los Puertos, where over 100 l/m² were recorded in just a few hours, new locally heavy showers are expected from Monday afternoon onwards.
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated a yellow level alert for the province's interior starting at 2:00 PM. Rainfall is expected to accumulate up to 20 l/m² in just one hour, accompanied by thunderstorms with the possibility of hail and very strong wind gusts.
Meanwhile, in the rest of the Valencian Community, skies are expected to be partly cloudy to clear, with temperatures showing a slight increase or remaining stable. Highs could exceed 35 °C in inland areas of Valencia and southern Alicante.
In Alto Palancia, the town of Bejís is working to return to normal after Saturday's torrential storm. According to Aemet data, over 186 l/m² were recorded between 3:00 PM and 5:30 PM, with isolated wind gusts reaching 101 km/h.
The mayor of Bejís, María José Madrid, reported that damage assessments are underway, including flooded ground floors, collapsed pipes, wall collapses, and damage to one of the town's access bridges. There was also a power outage and loss of telephone coverage. Fortunately, no injuries or rescues were necessary.
In Torás, also in Alto Palancia, the damage has been comparable, including the collapse of a wall of the municipal fronton court and damage to chalets and homes.
