More than 300 personnel, fifty ground units, and nineteen aerial resources are working intensely to control the blaze, which has two main fronts: one affecting Catí and the other Tírig. A meeting of the Emergency Executive Committee (Cecopi) at 5:00 PM this Sunday will assess the current situation.
According to the Minister of Emergencies and Interior, Juan Carlos Valderrama, the perimeter affected by the fire extends for fifteen kilometers. Night operations were successful thanks to a relative humidity of 70%, as detailed by Antonio Rodrigo, technical director of the advanced command post.
The lockdown of Catí was decided on Saturday around 7:00 PM, as the fire dangerously approached the town. An ES-Alert was issued to inform residents and urge them to follow official instructions.
The Tírig fire is one of four blazes that ignited on Friday in the province of Castellón. The primary hypothesis regarding its cause points to lightning strikes during Friday's storms, pending the results of the Seprona investigation.
Elsewhere in the province, the fire in the Serra d'en Galceran is now under control, and residents evacuated from rural houses have been able to return home. The fire in Culla is stabilized, while the one in Salzadella was extinguished on Friday.
