The Provincial Council of Alicante has tendered the repair and renovation works for well number 4 of the drinking water supply service. The base tender budget amounts to 125,154.12 euros, including VAT. Interested companies have until September 15 to submit their bids, and the execution period for the works is set at two months.
Currently, the municipality of Ibi is supplied by wells 5 and 8, located in the Pla de Campaneta area. In this same battery of wells, there is well number 4, very close to the others, which will now be repaired. According to the specifications, the well has a theoretical depth of 412 meters, but in December 2020, part of the pumping pipe and the pump detached, without reaching the bottom of the borehole.
The main objective of the works is to unclog the well, either by extracting the fallen section and the pump through fishing operations, or by displacing them to the bottom to provide sufficient pumping capacity. This way, the well can be used, once fully piped, to supplement the urban supply in case of a breakdown of one of the current exploitation wells, thereby increasing the guarantee of meeting the population's needs.
