The city of Alcoy has participated in a national campaign promoted by the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) to raise awareness about driving under the influence of alcohol and other drugs. During the week of July 13-19, 2026, the Local Police intensified surveillance, particularly on weekends.
A total of fifteen checkpoints were established, inspecting numerous drivers. The result was that ten individuals tested positive for exceeding the legal limits. Additionally, two reports were filed for driving without a license and another for driving after the total loss of points.
This joint initiative aims to reduce road accidents and promote a zero-tolerance policy towards risky behaviors, in line with the Spanish Road Safety Strategy 2030.
“"We value the work done by all administrations to ensure safe mobility in our streets, remembering that the only safe alcohol limit at the wheel is 0.0%, and we hope this joint action helps save lives and raise public awareness about the risks of driving under the influence of psychoactive substances."
The Head of Security, Raül Llopis, highlighted the importance of these actions for citizen safety and awareness regarding the dangers of driving under the influence of substances.
