The objective of this initiative is twofold: to inform citizens about current regulations and to promote responsible coexistence between pet owners and the rest of the population. During their rounds, the brigades address queries related to animal welfare and regulations, as well as any doubts residents may have.
In the first week of operation, a total of 61 people have been assisted, demonstrating public interest in better understanding the regulations. Topics that generated the most queries were animal welfare and current legislation, followed by animal registration, sterilization, adoption, and civil liability insurance. Informers also take the opportunity to remind people of the importance of picking up pet waste and keeping public spaces clean.
In addition to awareness efforts, the brigades have also collected data on owner habits. Of the 129 observations made, 78.3% of people carried bags for waste collection, and 95.07% of observed animals were microchipped. This data will help guide future awareness campaigns.
Councilor Carles Sansalvador highlighted that the initiative will continue in the coming weeks across all neighborhoods, aiming to bring information closer to citizens, promote regulatory compliance, and foster responsible pet ownership.
