The works, which began on Thursday, July 16, 2026, are scheduled to take three months. During this period, the street will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The project was awarded to the company with the best offer for an amount of 93,109.5 euros, including VAT.
This intervention is part of the initiative to create new parking areas in various city locations, included in the 2025 participatory budgets. The main goal is to reinforce pedestrian routes and provide a designated space for ninety-five direct parking spaces in the Santa Rosa neighborhood.
The project includes the demolition of 363 square meters of rigid pavement for sidewalks and the renewal of basic services, such as the rainwater network and public lighting. This action aims to address previous deficiencies like discontinuous sidewalks and irregular parking, which posed a road safety risk, particularly due to the proximity of a school.
The Councilor for Works and Services, Jordi Martínez, highlighted the works' importance for public space management, stating they "resolve a historical shortage and guarantee the protection of students and residents." Meanwhile, the Councilor for Participation, Aroa Mira, emphasized the value of listening to public will, noting that "this intervention clearly shows how citizen contributions transform our neighborhoods, making them more livable and safer for everyone."
