Alcoi is preparing to host the first edition of the Spanish Street Skateboarding Championship for regional teams, which will take place at the Batoi Skatepark from September 18-20.
This national sporting event will bring together eight delegations from the Valencian Community, Basque Country, Andalusia, Catalonia, Galicia, the Canary Islands, Madrid, and Cantabria. Participants will compete in the U12 and U16 categories, for both female and male divisions. Friday will be dedicated to training, while Saturday and Sunday will feature the official competition.
Alcoi's selection as host is due to the current municipal government's promotion of this urban sport. The city has two skateboarding facilities, the Santa Ana and Batoi parks, which have undergone continuous improvements and investments by the council. These infrastructures enable the hosting of such significant events, boosting local activity and attracting visitors.
“
"Hosting an event of this magnitude indicates we are working in the right direction to offer the best infrastructure to our residents, providing them with quality spaces close to home."
“
"Promoting these facilities allows us to encourage healthy habits and offer safe leisure alternatives for citizens, while also generating significant economic benefits for our city thanks to all the visitors we will welcome over the weekend."
