The Platform for a Sustainable Port has warned that the project to install a fuel storage plant at pier 19 of the port of Alicante remains in force in the judicial sphere.

According to spokespersons for the entity, the defense presented by the State Attorney's Office in various disputes confirms that the initiative promoted by the company XC Business 90 has not been discarded. This situation persists despite the fact that the Department of Urban Planning denied the building permit and that there is a project by the Alicante Port Authority to set up an intermodal station in the same area.
Neighborhood and environmental groups, which filed appeals before the High Court of Justice of the Valencian Community, argue that the modification of the concession approved in 2019 must be annulled. Among the arguments presented, they highlight the lack of a mandatory Environmental Impact Statement, the omission of external safety reports, and the risk posed by locating these facilities in a densely populated urban environment.
The platform recalls that the agreement signed in 1995 by the Generalitat Valenciana, the Alicante City Council, and the Port Authority established a commitment to relocate existing fuel tanks and avoid new facilities of this type. However, the project promoters continue to defend the legality of the concession in the ongoing judicial proceedings.
