The municipal committee in Alicante investigating potential irregularities in the allocation of public housing in Playa de San Juan has summoned the mayor to appear on July 24.

The decision was made during the session held this Monday in the old City Hall Plenary Hall. The summons comes after several government team councilors and the deputy mayor, who chairs the committee, refused to appear before the members of the investigative body.
Opposition groups requested the mayor's presence after a former councilor for Finance and Heritage testified in the Corts committee that he knew a former Urban Planning councilor had an apartment in the Les Naus development since 2024.
During the session, political group representatives expressed their dissatisfaction with the strategy followed by the municipal government. While some groups called for the resignation of the committee chair, others noted that the no-shows by Popular Party councilors only serve to fuel suspicions regarding housing management.
The appearance schedule will continue on July 20, when the former Finance councilor, the former Urban Planning councilor, and another former Urban Planning councilor from the previous administration are scheduled to testify.
