The study, published in the scientific journal Scientific Reports, provides relevant data to optimize physical exercise programs. According to the results, the ability to control the trunk has a more direct relationship with dynamic balance than hip strength in active older people.
To carry out this work, the research team analyzed 127 healthy people aged between 30 and 80. The analysis evaluated parameters such as trunk stability, functional mobility, and hip strength to observe their evolution over time.
The findings indicate that, although all physical capacities analyzed decrease with age, the loss of trunk stability is the most pronounced, especially in men. The authors emphasize that while trunk control influences balance, hip strength has a greater impact on functional mobility.
The researchers suggest that training programs should incorporate exercises that require high postural control or situations of instability. They also remind that these practices must always be carried out under the supervision of specialized professionals to adapt to each person's needs.
