Alicante City Council has announced the awards for the 2026 Hogueras Bullfighting Fair, an edition that stood out for the quality of the shows and the large turnout at the bullring.

The jury decided to grant the Fair Winner award to a prominent Sevillian bullfighter, valuing his classic performance and artistic capacity in the ring. Likewise, the Novillero Winner award went to a young talent who demonstrated great potential and connection with the audience throughout the festival cycle.
In the livestock section, the Best Bull award was shared between two specimens from the Victorino Martín and Santiago Domecq ranches, which were recognized for their bravery and class. In addition, the council wanted to make special mentions to the Talavante ranch and the training work of the Alicante Municipal Bullfighting School.
Among the recognitions for the school's students and alumni, several young people who performed outstandingly in the novilladas and practical classes were distinguished. Finally, a special recognition was awarded to the master Luis Francisco Esplá on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of his alternative, honoring his career as an ambassador for the city.
