El Salón Social el Cirer in La Nucía hosts today, July 30th, from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM, the eighth blood donation drive of 2026. The event will feature the participation of the Valencian Community Transfusion Center. The Health Department has emphasized the critical need for blood, reminding that "blood cannot be manufactured" and that voluntary donation is the only way to obtain it. The La Nucía City Council is providing the municipal facilities free of charge for this initiative.
Requirements for donating blood include being over 18 and under 65 years old, and weighing more than 50 kilograms. It is recommended to drink and eat before donating, and participation is possible even with high cholesterol. Men can donate four times a year, and women three times. Pre-registration or a donor card is not necessary; new donors can attend directly at El Cirer Social Hall.
Approximately 250 daily donations are needed in the province of Alicante to cover surgical interventions, cancer patients, transplants, and other medical necessities. The goal is to raise societal awareness about the importance of this altruistic act to maintain hospital reserves.
