The intervention, which involved the collaboration of the Local Police, Social Services, and Street Cleaning, is part of a municipal campaign to eradicate irregular settlements in the city. The Councilor for Security, Julio Calero, emphasized that the operation was carried out with maximum attention and respect for the affected individuals, who were previously warned to remove their tents and belongings.
Local Police officers initiated the operation earlier this week, informing the occupants of the need to vacate the public spaces and remove their belongings. Social Services personnel accompanied the officers to assess the residents' situations.
This Friday, tents and other abandoned items were removed after occupants were asked to voluntarily take them. Cleaning services were responsible for collecting the debris to restore normalcy to the area.
Eleven workers participated in the dismantling and cleaning of the site, using a shovel, two centaur vehicles, two platforms, and a press truck. The operation will be completed in the coming days with perimeter brush clearing of the plot.
