The majority of these deaths, 51 in total, occurred during the second week of the month. Data from MoMo, part of the Carlos III Health Institute, indicates that between August 1st and 16th, 1,213 deaths were recorded in Spain, of which 64 took place in the Valencian territory.
The most affected provinces were Alicante, with 28 deaths; Castellón, with 19; and Valencia, with 17. Most of the deceased were over 65 years old, with a balance of 33 men and 31 women.
The week of August 10th to 16th was the most critical, with 51 deaths. The previous week, from August 3rd to 9th, saw 9 fatalities, and the remaining four occurred between August 1st and 2nd.
August 15th and 16th each recorded eight deaths, while the 14th saw nine. Seven deaths occurred on the 13th, and August 10th, 11th, and 12th each had six deaths. The rest of the deaths were distributed among the first nine days of the month.
This figure of 64 deaths during the first half of August surpasses the 47 fatalities recorded in the same period of 2025 but is significantly lower than the 150 deaths counted between August 1st and 16th, 2024.
