The University of Alicante and Lishui University in China have formalized a memorandum of understanding to strengthen institutional relations and promote new joint initiatives.

The agreement, approved by the Governing Council of the University of Alicante on September 25th, opens new avenues for collaboration in training, research, international mobility, and cultural dissemination. Through this agreement, both institutions are identifying opportunities for student and faculty exchange, as well as the development of potential double degree programs.
In this initial phase, the feasibility of double degrees is being studied for six programs within the UA's Higher Polytechnic School (EPS): Artificial Intelligence Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Multimedia Engineering, as well as the Master's Degree in Automation and Robotics and the Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering.
The signing of the agreement continues the institutional contacts initiated months ago and reinforces the University of Alicante's commitment to internationalization. The relationship dates back to a visit by a UA delegation to several universities in the Chinese provinces of Zhejiang and Shanghai between March 22nd and 27th, led by the Vice-Rector for International Relations and Cooperation for Development, Rosa María Martínez Espinosa.
During this trip, institutional contacts were established, including with Wenzhou University, where the Alicante delegation was received by Wang Shun. Subsequently, Wang Shun was appointed rector of Lishui University, which allowed for the continuation of contacts. In late June, Josué Antonio Nescolarde Selva, director of the Higher Polytechnic School, and José Luis Ramón Carretero, professor of the Master's Degree in Automation and Robotics, traveled to China and visited Lishui University, marking the starting point of the collaboration.
Lishui University is a public higher education institution located in the city of the same name, in Zhejiang province. Its history dates back to 1907, becoming a university in 2004. It has been designated a pilot demonstration institution for application-oriented development in Zhejiang province.
