The Governing Board of the Conference of Rectors and Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE), with the participation of the Rector of the University of Alicante, Amparo Navarro, has issued a statement outlining a ten-point plan to transform universities into drivers of the knowledge society.

The statement reaffirms CRUE's "firm and unwavering commitment to Spanish universities and the permanent strengthening of the Spanish University System." Their actions are based on strategic planning and a set of principles that transcend political circumstances, guiding continuous efforts to defend the common interests of universities and their contribution to societal progress, remaining vigilant to present and future challenges affecting the university sector.
The Governing Board, which assumed leadership of CRUE last May, proposes ten major strategic commitments for political forces in the upcoming general elections. The aim is to foster a State policy for universities, grounded in consensus, stability, and long-term vision.
This proposal stems from a fundamental conviction: universities are a strategic infrastructure and an essential asset for the economic, social, scientific, and cultural development of our country. Consequently, it is imperative that all public administrations commit to promoting the following priorities, summarized in the ten-point plan:
Spain's future, like that of more advanced societies, depends on its capacity to generate knowledge, train talent, and drive innovation. Therefore, CRUE "reiterates the need to place the Spanish University System among the strategic priorities of public action. Our commitment to this goal is firm, and we will continue working with determination, responsibility, and a spirit of collaboration to strengthen a public university at the service of society and collective progress."
