The Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FVMP) and the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation (CHE) have addressed the condition and planned actions for the riverbeds and ravines in the seven municipalities of Castellón province that belong to this demarcation. This meeting is part of the series of contacts initiated by the FVMP with the three Hydrographic Confederations present in the Valencian Community.
FVMP Secretary-General Miguel Bailach and CHE President Carlos Arrazola recalled that the affected municipalities in this area are Cincotorres, Forcall, Morella, Palanques, Todolella, Villores, and Zorita del Maestrazgo. This is an area with a considerably lower population density than those affected by the DANA.
During the meeting, Bailach conveyed the FVMP's willingness to act as a bridge and collaborate directly between the town councils and the basin authority, and requested information on whether conservation work in the area has been reinforced to minimize risks.
For its part, Arrazola pointed out that the surface area of the Valencian Community within the Ebro basin is small and confined to the Alto Bergantes area. He highlighted that, unlike other basins, no urgent corrective maintenance requests have been detected or received from local entities. However, the CHE has shown complete openness to receiving any suggestions from the Castellón municipalities.
The CHE President also indicated the possibility of participating in future information sessions to present the various alternatives available to Valencian municipalities for cleaning their ravines.
