The Monóvar City Council has approved the definitive set of municipal emergency plans in a plenary session, a fundamental step to strengthen the municipality's safety and response capacity in the face of potential risk situations.

This approval consolidates a planning and coordination system adapted to the territory's characteristics and aimed at ensuring the protection of the entire population. The approved framework is integrated by four specific documents: the Municipal Territorial Plan (PTM), which establishes the general organization and procedures; the Municipal Action Plan against the Risk of Forest Fires, to prevent and act against fires; the Seismic Plan, for potential earthquakes; and the Municipal Action Plan against the Risk of Floods, for intense rainfall episodes.
The mayor of Monóvar, Loren Amat, highlighted the importance of this approval: «Having these plans means having a clear roadmap to act in any emergency situation. Our goal is to guarantee the safety of the residents and improve the coordination of all involved services».
The plenary approval culminates a technical development and processing period over the past few years. During this time, the City Council has maintained constant action in response to various weather warnings and risk situations, with continuous coordination between security forces, municipal technical services, and emergency teams. The file will now be sent to the Civil Protection Commission of the Valencian Community for final homologation.
The new emergency framework allows for technical planning based on standardized strategies and action protocols, facilitating an organized and effective response to different risk scenarios. It includes operational integration between municipal resources, security forces, and specialized intervention services.
The Councilor for Environment, Víctor Fernández, emphasized the importance of adapting the planning to the specific characteristics of the territory: «Monóvar has different risks that require specific measures and protocols. These plans allow us to anticipate, establish how to act in each scenario, and coordinate the necessary resources, considering both the urban center and our hamlets and natural environment».
The planning has comprehensive territorial coverage, designed to protect both the urban center and all of Monóvar's hamlets. With this approval, the City Council strengthens prevention and response capacity for any emergency.
