The Petrer City Council, through its Department of Commerce and Consumption, has approved in its Local Government Board the application for the 2026 Consumer Vouchers campaign. If a favorable resolution is obtained from the Alicante Provincial Council, the initiative will represent an economic injection of 908,400 euros into local commerce.
The requested subsidy amounts to 454,200 euros. This amount, combined with consumer contributions, will allow the economic impact to be doubled, exceeding 900,000 euros in purchases made at Petrer's establishments.
The Councilor for Commerce, Aida Tortosa, highlighted the effectiveness of the Consumer Vouchers in stimulating proximity commerce, benefiting both families with savings and local businesses. However, the City Council has opted for prudence and will await the Provincial Council's final resolution before announcing the campaign schedule, due to budgetary issues in previous calls.
«We want to be cautious and not generate expectations until we have official confirmation of the aid being granted. Once the Provincial Council resolves the call, we will inform about the dates, bases, and the entire procedure», Tortosa stated.
If the subsidy is granted, the campaign will follow the model of the 2023 and 2024 editions, divided into two phases: one planned for October and another for December, aiming to boost commercial activity in the last quarter of the year, coinciding with campaigns like Black Friday and Christmas.
The allocation of vouchers will again be carried out through two random draws to ensure a more equitable distribution and offer greater access possibilities to a larger number of applicants. In-person assistance points will be maintained for individuals over 65 and those with special needs, ensuring equal access for all citizens.
The councilor expressed confidence in repeating or even exceeding the participation of nearly 120 establishments from previous editions. «Our commerce has shown year after year that it responds when measures are implemented to incentivize local consumption. We expect broad participation because this campaign represents an opportunity to continue strengthening the proximity economy and supporting those who generate employment and wealth in Petrer», concluded Tortosa.
Once the Alicante Provincial Council communicates the resolution of the call, the City Council will announce the definitive campaign calendar, the regulatory bases, the platform for requesting vouchers, and the adhesion procedure for interested businesses.
